1. Scope and Our Commitment
Authentic Living by Healing Narratives Counselling Inc. (Authentic Living, we, us, or our) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit or shop through authenticlivingshop.com, contact us, subscribe to our communications, or otherwise interact with the Shop.
This policy applies to Shop activity only. The Shop is separate from Healing Narratives Counselling Inc.'s professional counselling services. A Shop purchase does not create a clinical file. Please do not include health information, therapy details, or emergency information in Shop order notes or support messages.
2. Privacy Officer
Stephanie Underwood is responsible for the protection of personal information at Authentic Living, unless this responsibility is formally delegated. To ask a privacy question, make a request, raise a concern, or submit a complaint, contact the Privacy Officer using the information below.

3. Personal Information We Collect
Information you provide directly: name, email address, billing and delivery address, telephone number where provided, order details, communications with us, and preferences or subscription choices.
Payment information: payment is processed by our payment-service provider. We may receive limited transaction information such as payment status, payment method type, order value, and transaction identifiers, but we do not intentionally store full payment-card numbers.
Information collected automatically: when you use the Shop, the site and its providers may collect device and browser details, IP address, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, referral source, time and date of visit, cookie identifiers, and shopping-cart or checkout activity. The exact information depends on the platform and tools in use.
Information from service providers: we may receive fulfilment, delivery, fraud-prevention, payment-status, or marketing-preference information from providers that help us operate the Shop.
4. Why We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to operate the Shop; process, confirm, fulfil, and deliver orders; provide digital downloads; communicate about orders and support requests; prevent fraud and misuse; comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations; improve the Shop; maintain security; and, with consent where required, send marketing communications or measure the effectiveness of marketing.
We collect and use personal information only for identified purposes or as otherwise permitted or required by law. Where consent is required, we seek consent that is clear, free, informed, and specific to the purpose. You may withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
5. How We Share Personal Information
We disclose only the information reasonably necessary to service providers that help us operate the Shop. These may include our e-commerce platform, payment processor, Printify, Printify-selected print providers, shipping carriers, tax and accounting providers, email-service providers, site-hosting providers, analytics providers, and professional advisers. These providers may use personal information only to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by law and their applicable agreements.
We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law, to protect rights, safety, and security, in connection with a merger, financing, sale, or transfer of business assets, or with your consent. We do not sell personal information in exchange for money. We do not knowingly use or disclose personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising without providing the notice and choices required by applicable law.
6. International and Cross-Border Processing
Our service providers, including Printify and its print-provider network, may process or store personal information outside Québec, elsewhere in Canada, or in the United States and other countries where they operate. Personal information handled in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and accessible to courts, law-enforcement authorities, or other authorities there. Before communicating personal information outside Québec, we assess the relevant privacy factors and use contractual or other safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information and the circumstances.
7. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Shop uses essential technologies needed for site operation, security, shopping-cart functionality, and checkout. If we use optional analytics, advertising, or social-media tracking technologies, we will identify them through our cookie notice or consent tool and provide choices where required. You can also manage certain cookies through your browser settings, although disabling essential cookies may prevent parts of the Shop from working.
8. Marketing Communications
We will send commercial electronic messages only with consent or another lawful basis. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or contacting us at hello@healingnarrativescounselling.com. We may still send non-promotional communications about an order, account, legal notice, or policy update.
9. Retention and Destruction
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including order fulfilment, customer support, legal claims, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, and record-keeping obligations. As a general rule, order and transaction records are retained for at least six years after the end of the relevant tax year when required for tax or accounting purposes. Marketing contact information is retained until you unsubscribe or we no longer need it. We securely destroy, erase, or anonymize information when it is no longer required, subject to legal retention requirements.
10. Security and Privacy Incidents
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold, including restricted access, reputable service providers, and secure payment processing. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If a confidentiality incident involving personal information creates a risk of serious injury or significant harm, we will follow applicable notification, mitigation, record-keeping, and reporting requirements.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, information about how we use or disclose it, withdrawal of consent, deletion where appropriate, and a computerized copy in a structured and commonly used technological format where the law provides that right. To make a request, email us. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may explain any legal limit on a request.
If you live in a U.S. state with additional privacy rights, you may use the same contact information to make a request or exercise a relevant opt-out choice. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right, except as permitted by law.
12. Children
The Shop is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 14 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without appropriate consent, please contact the Privacy Officer.
13. Complaints
Please contact our Privacy Officer first so we can try to resolve your concern. You may also have the right to complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or, where applicable, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another privacy regulator with jurisdiction.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, services, or legal obligations. We will post the updated policy with a revised effective date and give additional notice where required by law.
